Summary
My past work experience has consisted of retail and clerical experience. In January of 2007 I made the decision to return to school to fulfill my dream of educating children. For five years, I worked full time while working towards my goal.
After taking all of my general education courses at Kankakee Community College, I transferred to Governors State University. During my time in the Elementary Education program at Governor's State University, I was able to work closely with second and third grade students during my clinical experiences and first grade students during student teaching. I graduated from Governors State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in May of 2012.
Soon after graduation, I began working as an instructional paraprofessional with kindergartners at Steuben Elementary School in Kankakee, IL. After being there for a year, I transferred into a full time position within the district working as a special education paraprofessional. It is a wonderful experience and I am learning a lot from the teachers and students to better prepare myself for future endeavours.
